About Diakont

Diakont is a San Diego, California-based full-cycle engineering, manufacturing, and service company developing innovative technology to increase the safety and economy of critical industries. Through its Energy Services, Nuclear Solutions, and Motion Control business units, Diakont builds robotic inspection equipment for pipelines, oil and gas storage tanks, and nuclear power plants using ultrasonic or laser technology. Nuclear inspection robots reduce the need for putting humans in hazardous-material suits and radioactive environments, inspecting weld conditions and performing cavity cleaning remotely. Key technologies include Torus Inspection ROVs—hybrid robots operating in swim and crawl modes using vortex adhesion without disturbing sludge—and Remote Robotic Cavity Cleaning systems for refueling, component storage, spent fuel, and cask loading cavities. Diakont uses patented Electro-Magnetic Acoustic Transducer (EMAT) technology for safety-related pipe inspections. Notable projects include completing the first buried piping in-line inspection at a US nuclear power plant (Cooper Nuclear Station) with partner Structural Integrity Associates. Operating from 11,000 square feet of industrial space in Kearny Mesa, Diakont serves nuclear, oil & gas, and energy infrastructure clients globally.
