About Diamond Age
Diamond Age is a Bay Area-founded construction robotics company that has developed an innovative system combining 3D printing and robotics to dramatically reduce the time and cost of building new homes. The company addresses the United States housing shortage of nearly seven million single-family homes by automating 55 percent of the manual labor traditionally required in home construction and reducing build cycles from approximately nine months to just thirty days. Their technology platform includes 26 end-of-arm robotic tools mounted on their Mobile Automated Construction Engine (MACE), a portable, modular, and upgradeable factory-in-the-field system that can construct any structure fitting within its construction envelope. The 3D printing system produces concrete composite walls for exterior, interior, and roof structures that are more energy efficient, quieter, and durable than traditional builds. Diamond Age has raised $58 million in total funding, including an $8 million seed round and a $50 million Series A led by Prime Movers Lab with participation from Alpaca VC. Their first community of 3D-printed homes is now available for sale in Casa Grande, Arizona, through Century Complete Mountain View Estates, with prices starting in the upper $200,000s. The homes come in three single-story floor plans offering up to four bedrooms and 1,901 square feet. Diamond Age technology reduces construction waste from the high teens to low single digits percentage, contributing to more sustainable building practices. Under CEO Cole Young, the company has also committed to constructing 3D-printed bunkers in Ukraine.
