Forterra is a Clarksburg, Maryland-based autonomy technology company and the leading provider of autonomous ground systems for the US military, participating in every DoD ground autonomy program. Founded in 2022, the company has raised approximately  million in funding including a 8 million Series C round in November 2025, and employs 101-200 people. Forterra's systems are deployed in 10+ countries and combat zones, automating 50+ vehicle platforms across missions ranging from logistics and convoy operations to combat support. Key programs include GEARS, ROGUE Fires (the first DoD ground autonomy production contract with the Marine Corps), and a  million Army breaching systems contract. Mission Modules include AutoDrive (advanced ground autonomy system), TerraLink (front-end interface for distributed systems at the edge), Vektor (resilient data fabric for battlefield operations), Oasis (open, modular integration platform), and goTenna (lightweight mesh networking). The autonomy operates in challenging conditions, functioning on smooth roads to rugged, unpaved landscapes without infrastructure improvements, lane markings, or roads, with all-weather performance across varied terrain. Forterra operates as an open ecosystem approach, partnering with defense contractors including BAE Systems, RTX, Oshkosh, Mack, Plasan, Kalmar, and CHAOS Industries (October 2025 partnership for autonomous counter-UAS capabilities). The company is defining the next domain of military operations by creating an ecosystem where intelligent systems coordinate across battlefields.
