Franka Emika was a pioneering German robotics company founded in 2016 by brothers Sami and Simon Haddadin in Munich. The company developed the Panda collaborative robot arm, a 7-axis cobot featuring torque sensors on all joints enabling safe human-robot collaboration. The Panda offered 3kg payload, 855mm reach, and 0.1mm repeatability, becoming widely adopted in research institutions. Recognized in Time magazine's 50 Best Inventions of 2018. The company filed for insolvency in August 2023 and was acquired by Agile Robots in November 2023, now operating as Franka Robotics.
