About Graspian
Graspian is a Danish robotics company founded in 2020 by Christian Bjerrum-Niese and Sepideh Naserbakht, dedicated to adding the sense of touch to industrial robots through advanced tactile sensing technology. Based in Farum, approximately 30 minutes from Copenhagen, the company develops custom end-of-arm tools equipped with electronic skin sensors that enable robots to detect and adapt to varying work environments. Their proprietary technology integrates sensors for proximity, force, and slippage detection, allowing robots to locate objects precisely, measure touch force when handling items, and prevent drops through real-time grip adjustment. This makes their grippers ideal for handling delicate objects like soft tomatoes or thin glass that would be damaged by conventional grippers. The company originated from commercialization work on nanosensors at Stensborg A/S, where co-founder Christian proposed creating tactile gripping tools using proprietary force sensors. With encouragement from Stensborg management, Graspian was established as an independent company focused on solving complex robotic manipulation challenges. The company secured soft funding from the Danish Innovation Fund in 2021, followed by working capital from private investors. Additional funding of 2.9 million DKK came from Vækstfonden and Christian Nielsens Fond. Graspian operates as a small, agile team of robotics and automation experts who help system integrators tackle challenging automation tasks that exceed the capabilities of standard commercial solutions, significantly reducing time-to-market and development costs for their clients.
