About Orbit Fab

Orbit Fab is building the gas stations of space, developing in-space refueling infrastructure that will fundamentally transform satellite operations by enabling spacecraft to be refueled in orbit rather than being discarded when fuel runs out. Founded in 2018 by Daniel Faber and Jeremy Schiel, the San Francisco-based company has raised $45.9 million in total funding. Their Series A round of $28.5 million was led by 8090 Industries with major investments from Stride Capital, Industrious Ventures, Lockheed Martin Ventures, Tribe Capital, Good Growth Capital, and Massive Capital Partners. A previous round notably brought together rival aerospace primes Northrop Grumman and Lockheed Martin as co-investors, marking the first time these competitors jointly invested in a space startup. Orbit Fab has booked at least four fuel shuttle missions launching over the next three years, including three defense contracts valued at $21 million. The company supplies tankers and infrastructure for in-space refueling, offering propellant delivery to satellites in Earth orbit that expands operational potential of both new and existing space assets. Their standardized refueling interface, the Rapidly Attachable Fluid Transfer Interface (RAFTI), is designed to become the universal standard for satellite refueling. By enabling satellites to be refueled multiple times throughout their operational lives, Orbit Fab technology could dramatically reduce the cost of maintaining constellations and extend mission durations for high-value government and commercial satellites.
