Proprio is a Seattle, Washington-based University of Washington spinout developing AI-powered surgical navigation technology. The company's proprietary platform combines light field technology with computer vision, data intelligence, and real-time anatomical alignment calculations for precision surgery. In April 2025, Proprio's AI guidance platform Paradigm received its second major FDA 510(k) clearance to include intraoperative measurements—the first-ever technology enabling 3D, dynamic, and segmental viewing of anatomy with real-time surgical success measurement. The platform uses AI and machine learning for real-time data analysis during spine surgeries, harmonizing surgical data to aid decision-making. Hundreds of world-class spine, neuro, and orthopedic surgeons have contributed expertise to Proprio's AI models. With over 1.6 million spinal procedures performed annually in the US alone, the need for such technological advancement is immense. Proprio has raised  million through Series B funding, including a  million Series A led by DCVC in 2020 with participation from BOLD Capital Partners, Cota Capital, and Intel. Recognized by Fast Company as one of the Most Innovative Companies of 2024, Proprio recently announced a strategic partnership with Biedermann to integrate AI-powered guidance with spine implant systems.
