About TechMagic
TechMagic Inc. is a Tokyo, Japan-based technology company described as the "Pioneer of Cooking Robots." Founded in 2018 by Yuji Shiraki (CEO), the company developed the I-Robo, recognized as the world's first cooking robot for stir-fry automation, winning an award at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES). The I-Robo automates a complete series of processes from seasoning measurement to cooking to washing. The machine features a tilted, rotating cylindrical pan that automatically adjusts seasonings and heat settings, prompting users to place pre-measured ingredients into the heated bowl. The bowl spins and rotates, mixing and heating ingredients to create meals in 2-3 minutes. The robot flexibly adjusts heating temperature, heating time, pan rotation speed, and direction according to the menu. Key features include self-cleaning capability, connection to a cloud-based recipe library with professional chef recipes worldwide, and throughput of 30 meals per hour. Dishes include fried rice, fried noodles, chili shrimp, Chinese fried tomato and egg, and pad thai. In Japan, the Osaka Ohsho chain of Chinese restaurants has incorporated 39 robots across 16 locations, and the Ippudo ramen chain began using them for fried rice making in February 2025. CEO Shiraki stated: "In Japan, they have already been operational and have successfully prepared over 100,000 meals in the last half year." The company plans US market expansion, noting: "Labour costs are higher in the US than in Japan, so there's strong interest in cooking robots." Products also include P-Robo for additional food preparation applications.
