Founded in 2016, the company has raised approximately $83 million including a $70 million Series B in 2022 with investments from Mitsui, SBI Investment, Tokyu Land, and Kyushu Electric Power. Terra Drone specializes in drone-based inspection services using proprietary ultrasonic thickness (UT) measurement technology—patented technology enabling drones to press ultrasonic testing probes against surfaces to measure wall thickness without scaffolding. The company's Terra LiDAR solutions enable 3D laser scanning and point cloud surveying for construction and civil engineering, having participated in over 2,000 surveying projects worldwide. In January 2025, Terra Drone launched the Terra Xross 1, their first in-house developed indoor inspection drone simultaneously released in Japan and the US, available for under $25,000.
