About Trajekt Sports

Trajekt Sports is a Waterloo, Ontario-based company revolutionizing Major League Baseball training with AI-powered pitching simulation technology that replicates the experience of batting against real professional pitchers. Founded in 2019 by University of Waterloo Engineering alumni Joshua Pope (Biomedical Engineering) and Rowan Ferrabee (Mechatronics Engineering), the company developed the Trajekt Arc, the only system that uses artificial intelligence to integrate ultra-realistic visuals of pitchers complete with exact arm angles, release mechanics, and motion blur. Using trajectory data collected from major league pitchers, machine learning, high-precision motors, image processing, and ball-tracking technology, the machine controls 11 of 12 degrees of freedom for pitches at a fixed release point of 56.5 feet from home plate. The company secured their first MLB client, the Chicago Cubs, in December 2021, and today 30 professional baseball teams train with Trajekt Arc machines including 24 MLB teams, four from Japans Nippon Professional Baseball, one from the Korea Baseball Organization, and one from the Chinese Professional Baseball League. Notable users include the New York Yankees and Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani. Each machine costs $15,000 to $20,000 monthly as part of three-year leases. With 21 full-time employees and a strong pipeline from University of Waterloo co-op programs, Trajekt Sports continues to expand their presence in professional sports training.
