About ULC Technologies

ULC Technologies (formerly ULC Robotics) is a Hauppauge, New York-based company with over 20 years of expertise developing and deploying robotic systems, unmanned aerial systems, machine learning applications, and inspection technology for the energy, utility, and industrial sectors. The company collaborates with clients to design, develop, and deploy custom robotic solutions that minimize large-scale excavations, reduce carbon emissions, and improve efficiency in pipeline operations. Their flagship CIRRIS XI robot enables gas network operators to assess the structural integrity of large-diameter (12-48 inch) cast iron gas distribution mains through wall thickness and stress measurements, providing an alternative to costly direct burial replacement. The CISBOT technology allows gas networks to safely extend the life of cast iron main assets by injecting anaerobic sealant that repairs existing leaks and prevents new leaks for 50 years, all without disrupting gas service to customers. ULC also developed a modular snake-like segmented inline robot capable of conducting inspections and repairs inside live natural gas or hydrogen pipelines for over half a mile in either direction. In September 2020, SPX Corporation acquired ULC Robotics, recognizing the companys pioneering Robotics-as-a-Service (RaaS) business model that generates recurring revenue through robotic solutions designed to rehabilitate and extend the life of natural gas distribution networks. With approximately 160 employees and significant presence in the United Kingdom, ULC Technologies continues to advance pipeline robotics innovation.
