Apptronik Raises $935M Series A to Scale Apollo Humanoid Robot

Austin-based Apptronik has closed a $935 million Series A round, making it one of the largest single funding rounds in robotics history. The latest $520 million extension came from existing investors Google, Mercedes-Benz, and B Capital, alongside new investors, at a valuation of approximately $5 billion — roughly three times the prior Series A valuation.

What the Money Is For

Apptronik plans to use the capital to:

  1. Ramp manufacturing of the Apollo humanoid robot
  2. Broaden commercial deployments in logistics and manufacturing
  3. Build new facilities for robot training and data collection
  4. Launch a next-generation robot platform later in 2026

The Apollo Robot

Apollo is a general-purpose humanoid designed for warehouse and manufacturing environments. Key specs include:

  • Height: 5’8” (173 cm)
  • Weight: 160 lbs (73 kg)
  • Payload: 55 lbs (25 kg)
  • Battery: 4+ hours continuous operation
  • Target applications: Logistics, palletizing, manufacturing

Strategic Partnerships

The funding validates Apptronik’s enterprise-first strategy:

  • Google DeepMind: Collaboration on embodied AI — robots that perceive environments and take physical actions based on reasoning
  • Mercedes-Benz: Pilot deployments in automotive manufacturing
  • GXO Logistics: Testing in warehouse environments

The Funding Landscape

Apptronik’s round is part of a record-breaking year for humanoid robotics investment:

Company2025-2026 FundingValuation
Figure AI$2.6B total$39B
Apptronik$935M Series A$5B+
1X Technologies$350M+ total~$1.5B
Physical Intelligence$400M Series A$2.4B

The concentration of capital in a handful of humanoid companies suggests the market believes only a few players will capture the majority of value — similar to the consolidation patterns seen in autonomous vehicles.
